We all have those days where it's feels like time is dragging on, work is piling up and you're never going to make a dent in it, and you're just anxious and stressed out. It can make sitting at your desk an absolute nightmare.
When you start to feel like all is lost, it's important to make the necessary steps to prevent over working yourself, or even worse, lashing out your frustrations on a co-worker. Here's some good ideas that I have used in the past when I feel the pressure piling on.
1. Get up, take a deep breath, and take a walk. Don't sit at your desk for over an hour, be sure to walk away for at least a little bit so your work isn't the only thing you see or hear all day.
2. Blow off some steam. Whatever it is that you like to do to relieve stress after work, do it, then do it some more. Whether that be exercising, relaxing and watching a movie, or going out with a few friends for dinner. It's important to unwind and decompress after a long day. Try to avoid going straight home and doing housework on particularly long days.
3. Make sure you're getting enough sleep. If you're tired at work it can make you irratble and anxious at work.
4. Take some time off. You may be stressing out if you haven't just been away for some time. Working week in and week out without taking some time off can really take its toll after some time. So be sure to take a week off to just relax if you are able.
